Treat Me As A Human Being

A portrait chapter on the quiet, unconditional request to be met as a person.

Made in Abuja with Samantha, a young trans woman, this chapter sits close to one life and listens. It moves through the ordinary textures of being — work, rest, company, solitude — and the harder weather of being misread, dismissed, or shut out of spaces most people take for granted. What surfaces is not a case to argue but a person to meet: someone living, working, building a life, and asking only for what should never need asking. The title is the whole of it — a sentence offered in her own words.

Photographer's note

These photographs are not only about a single subject — they are about the conditions that allow a life to remain visible: care, safety, belief, and someone insisting that this story still matters.
